Listed villages

The Ardèche and its surroundings are home to many villages classified among the most beautiful in France, such as Labeaume, Jaujac and Balazuc. These charming, picturesque towns attract visitors with their cobbled streets, stone houses and medieval castles. The banks of the Ardèche River also offer spectacular scenery, with deep gorges and steep cliffs. Outdoor enthusiasts can explore the surrounding hiking trails, while foodies can sample local specialites at the many restaurants in the area.

The Ardèche Gorges

The Gorges de l'Ardèche and the famous Pont d'Arc are natural wonders not to be missed. The Gorges offer panoramic views of steep cliffs and the crystal clear waters of the Ardèche River, with swimming areas. The Pont d'Arc is an impressive natural arch that rises majestically above the river and is a popular spot for swimming, canoeing and hiking.

Historical sites

The Ardèche is a rich region, with emblematic sites such as prehistoric dolmens, the caves of Aven d'Orgnac and Chauvet. The dolmens are stone funerary monuments dating from the Bronze Age, which testify to the ancient occupation of the region. The Grotte Aven d'Orgnac is a geological wonder, where visitors can admire amazing rock formations and learn about prehistory. The Grotte Chauvet is famous for its remarkably well-preserved prehistoric cave paintings, which date back over 30,000 years.

The castles

History and architecture enthusiasts will be delighted to discover the many castles near the Relais des Brison. Among the most impressive are the Château de Vogüé, a magnificent medieval castle built above the Ardèche, as well as the Château de Montréal, which offers a panoramic view of the Ligne Valley. The Château des Roure, dating from the 15th century, is another magnificent castle to visit, as well as the Château de Balazuc, located on a hill with breathtaking views of the village.

Museums

The Southern Ardèche region is full of museums. Gastronomy lovers will appreciate the Chestnut Museum, which retraces its history. The Silk Museum meanwhile, offers an immersion in the history and production of silk. But there are also other interesting museums to discover near the Relais des Brison, such as the Lavender Museum in Saint-Remèze, which tells the story of the cultivation of lavender in Ardèche, and the Museum of Prehistory in Orgnac-l'Aven, which presents fossils dating from the prehistoric era.
